Kasey has been a member of the SFA Sports Medicine Department since August 2020 and is entering her fifth season with the 'Jacks. For the first 3 years of her career here at SFA she worked primarily with the Men's and Women's Track and Field teams. Since then she has moved primarily to Football and served as the Interim Director of Sports Medicine beginning in March 2024. Kasey has also served as the Program Coordinator for the SFA Sports Medicine Undergraduate Apprenticeship Program since Spring 2023 and played a pivotal role in recruitment for athletic training student apprentices. During her time as the Program Coordinator she has more than doubled the amount of students enrolled in the program and it sits at an average of 50 students per semester.
She earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Eastern Kentucky University. While at EKU she worked primarily with the EKU football team and took a semester long rotation at Furman University with their football team before graduating in May 2020.
Kasey began her education at McNeese State, University where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine. While at McNeese she worked with the baseball, soccer, and football teams.
Although a native of Zwolle, Louisiana, her East Texas roots run deep as she graduated from Hemphill High School after being a part of the high school athletic training program run under the supervision of SFA Alumni, Stephanie Elliott.
"I'm super excited for the opportunity to be leading the SFA Sports Medicine department," said Fisette. "I grew up in East Texas and SFA was always a prominent school within the region. The sports medicine department is one that influenced my life early on as my high school athletic trainer, Stephanie Elliott, is an SFA alumna. She played a pivotal role in the education and passion that was instilled in me for athletic training and I cannot thank her enough. SFA Sports Medicine has a legacy of phenomenal athletic trainers and I'm honored to not only lead the charge, but also be the first female Director of Sports Medicine this program has seen. I'm surrounded with a passionate staff of athletic trainers and we are all excited to continue to uphold and provide a high standard of quality care for our student-athletes. I believe in being a servant leader and plan to build upon the great foundation that is currently here at SFA. My mentor and predecessor, AJ Van Valkenburgh, and my parents, Shelley & Curtis Fisette, ingrained in me the values that I carry with me today and I cannot thank them and everybody else along the road of this journey enough. I am enthusiastic and ready to move into the future of SFA Sports Medicine and its athletic department alongside my fellow athletic trainers. Axe 'Em!"
"Kasey has proven she is a great candidate for this position since early March when she stepped up into the Interim Director role," said Loree McCary, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration & SWA. "Kasey, with the assistance of the other SFA athletic trainers, maintained care and support for our student-athletes at the level that SFA has become accustomed to. I can't thank Kasey and her staff enough for all they have done to constantly put our student-athletes health and well-being at the forefront of the decision making process. Kasey is a high quality athletic trainer that has shown that she is prepared to lead our staff and continue to care for our student-athletes."
