NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's basketball program has announced the addition of Keon Thompson. Thompson, a six-foot guard from the University of Massachusetts, will make his Lumberjack debut in the 2024-25 season.
The junior guard comes to the Lumberjacks after spending the past two years at the University of Massachusetts. He started 30 games for the Minutemen during his sophomore campaign and helped lead the team to a 20-11 overall record and an 11-7 Atlantic 10 conference record.
"Keon is known for his playmaking abilities for others and for himself. We are extremely excited to announce the signing of Keon to our ball club," said head coach Kyle Keller. "There is no doubt he is the type of young man on and off the court that everyone around Lumberjack basketball will enjoy being around. He is a great on ball defender and someone who will fit right in with the Lumberjacks and our style of play. He has won throughout his high school and collegiate levels and his infectious spirit will continue to shine throughout the SFA program."
Thompson averaged 9.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.0 APG, and a 2.3 A/TO ratio during his sophomore campaign. As a freshman, he appeared in 30 of 31 games, nine as a starter and averaged 5.8 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 2.7 APG and had an A/TO ratio of 1.5.
