
Ashlyn Traylor-Walker Records Double-Double as Ladyjacks Dismantle Colorado State

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team (10-2, 1-1 SLC) finished out their slate at the San Diego Classic with Colorado State (9-4, 0-0 MW).
SFA quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Colorado State made a three-pointer to cut the lead to 5-3. Ashlyn Traylor-Walker and Trinity Moore responded with three-pointers of their own and pushed the 'Jacks to a six-point lead, 11-5. With 4:41 left in the first quarter, SFA went on a 7-0 spurt to take an 18-7 lead with 2:14 to go. Harmanie Dominguez scored the final five points of the quarter for the 'Jacks and pushed the SFA lead to 14, 23-9.
Faith Blackstone put the team on her back in the second quarter as she scored the first seven points for the Ladyjacks, 30-18. Colorado State hit back-back-to-back jumpers to bring the deficit to 10 with 5:44 left in the first half. SFA then went on a 6-0 run that was capped off by another three-pointer from Traylor-Walker, 38-22. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the first half, but the Rams knocked down a last second three to cut the SFA lead down to 12. The Ladyjacks went into the locker room with a 40-28 lead.
The Ladyjacks started out the second half on a 5-2 run to extend their lead to 15, 45-30. Both teams traded blows until SFA went on another 5-0 spurt which gave them a dominant 52-35 lead with 3:50 left in the third. Blackstone continued to slice through the CSU defense as she made a jumper and a free throw to give SFA a 55-38 lead with 1:05 left in the third quarter. The Rams scored the final three points of the quarter, but the 'Jacks ended the third with a 55-41 lead.
Dominguez scored the first four points in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 59-41. Colorado State went on a 10-2 run to cut the lead back to 10, 61-51. Back-to-back jumpers from Traylor-Walker and Blackstone gave SFA a 67-54 lead with 5:31 left in the game. The Rams went on a 6-2 run with two three-pointers to bring the deficit down to nine, 69-60. A three-point play from Moore brought the SFA lead back up to double-digits, 72-60. Back-to-back three-pointers from Dominguez and Traylor-Walker sealed the game for the 'Jacks who won by 11, 80-69.
