NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Department of Athletics has announced that Hadrien Choukroun and Robert Hansen will serve as co-head coaches of the cross country and track and field programs.
Both have worked closely for the Lumberjacks while assisting with the organization of practices, team activities, and recruiting. Hansen has served as the head coach of the cross country program since 2021, while Choukroun has worked with SFA since 2018 and primarily tutored student-athletes in the jumps, multis, sprints and hurdles.
"It's always a great day to be Lumberjack, but days like this are always a little brighter as we welcome and usher in a new era in our storied Track and Field/Cross Country programs. We knew filling the shoes of a legend like Coach Olson was not going to be easy. After going through a national search, we are excited to know that our solution was already here with us with Hadrien and Rob," said SFA Director of Athletics, Ryan Ivey. "While this may be a little different than what is normally seen, these two individuals have worked hard to earn this opportunity, and I have no doubt they will complement each other as they work together to grow our track and field/cross country programs. I want to thank all of those who worked to get us to this point, and especially our student-athletes for their engagement and input throughout the process, as our ultimate responsibility is to provide a great experience for them."
Choukroun is enthusiastic to continue in his new role.
"First, I would like to thank Coach Olson for bringing me to SFA four years ago," Choukroun said. "I would also like to thank Mr. Ivey and Ms. Bryant for giving Coach Hansen and I this opportunity. I am excited to step into this new role and look forward to continue Coach Olson's legacy."
Hansen is excited for the opportunity.
"It's a great honor to be co-head coach of SFA's track and field and cross program with one of the brightest and best young coaches (Hadrien Choukroun) in the country and appreciative of Mr. Ivey and Ms. Bryant for trusting us to lead the program into the future." Hansen said. "From the time I visited Nacogdoches, I knew we would work well together, and less than a year later we're blessed with this opportunity. None of this would have been possible without the mentorship provided from Coach Olson."
