
SFA Completes 2-0 Week in Western Athletic Conference Play

NACOGDOCHES, Texas --
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (15-8, 7-4 WAC) completed the week 2-0 in conference play with a win over Dixie State in the William R. Johnson Coliseum on Saturday, 81-52. The 'Jacks owned the day in pivotal categories in this contest highlighted by shooting 55.6 percent from the field, holding Dixie State to 27.1 percent on the day.
SFA was led in scoring by David Kachelries (17p/6r/2a/1s) and Jaylin Jackson-Posey (17p/6r/3a/2s), with Calvin Solomon contributing 14 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Latrell Jossell chipped in nine points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Dixie State kicked off the game with an 8-3 advantage, as the 'Jacks were able to defend and force turnovers to climb back to take a 35-26 lead at the half. A dominating 17-5 run to close out the first 20 minutes of play gave the 'Jacks momentum heading into the second half.
The Trailblazers cut the deficit to four (39-35) with just under 17 minutes to play, but the 'Jacks managed to outscore their opponent 46-26 in the second half to deny any sort of Dixie State comeback. The Lumberjacks scored 32 points off of 25 Trailblazer turnovers including 31 bench points on the day.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action on Thursday, February 10th at Chicago State for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
