NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Almost one year removed from making history by minting the first-ever college athletics NFT to celebrate the Ladyjack Basketball Southland Conference Tournament Championship, SFA Athletics is proud to announce the launch of their own branded shopfront for fans to collect official NFTs. The Purple Lights Vault will feature community building avatars, fan art and historic moments from our storied athletic department's history. Having dropped, and sold, dozens of NFTs over the last year, the interest is there and warrants a branded shopfront to protect the SFA Athletic brand while engaging fans in unique ways.
"Launching the Purple Lights Vault allows us to continual celebrate the great moments that have occurred and will continue to occur as we move toward achieving our vision of becoming the leading mid-major athletics department in the nation," said SFA Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey. "This initiative puts us at the forefront of being able to leverage our digital assets, while staying true to one of our AXEEM core values of being innovative. We are looking forward to engaging with and creating additional SFA fans through the Purple Lights Vault."
Fans are able to create a free account and connect their vault wallet so they may interact with and also send/receive tokens as they wish. NFTs dropped this past year include t-shirt/NFT, hat/NFT, digital display/NFT and in-venue premium area access/NFT bundles. SFA also airdropped free NFTs to fans who opted in to participate as a part of 2021-22 Jack Madness to kickoff the 2021-22 basketball season.
Wally Crittenden, Associate Athletic Director for Business Development & Revenue Generation Quote: "We have digital assets that are really special that can be enjoyed as standalone engagements or bundled with in-venue experiences which we have plenty of inventory to leverage. This can all be done in ways that excite our fan base and allow for fun ways to interact with emerging technology. A branded shopfront is the next step in our digital asset master plan to grow our digital library and feature great moments that previously were not easily accessible when our fans wanted them."
With all proceeds from the Purple Lights Vault set to benefit The Purple Lights Fund, it is believed to be one of the first platforms of its kind meant to leverage digital assets to help drive in-house advancement-related revenues.
