SFA Bounces Lamar for 6th Straight Win

BEAUMONT, Texas – Stephen F. Austin shot a sizzling 45.9 percent from the field and defeated Lamar 70-56 in Western Athletic Conference action.
SFA improved to 18-8 and 10-4 in WAC play, while LU fell to 2-23 and 0-12 in conference action.
Gavin Kensmil dropped a game-high 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Lumberjacks scored 33 points off the bench. Derrick Tezeno played 25 minutes while scoring 14 points, also on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor. Jaylin Jackson-Posey was a factor and helped out with 13 points while handing out a game-high five assists.
Calvin Solomon added 10 points and hauled in six boards.
SFA won the battle in front of the basket and out-rebounded LU 38-26 and scored 46 points in the paint. The Jacks forced the Cardinals into 25 turnovers which was turned into 26 points. SFA utilized the fast-break and outscored the Cardinals 17-9.
The Jacks return to the hardwood on Thursday and play host to Sam Houston at 6:30 p.m.
Senior Day is also set for Saturday, February 26 versus Abilene Christian.
