ATLANTA, Ga. - Seven programs are prepared to represent ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball at the inaugural AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championship in Huntsville, Ala., announced Wednesday by the organization. The event, which will be held Nov. 4–6, features 2022 ASUN Champion Stetson along with Austin Peay, College of Charleston, FGCU, UNCW, North Florida and Stephen F. Austin competing for the women's pairs national championship. SFA will be sending Natalie Bennett and Madison Morrow to the tournament.
The women's competition showcases top players from Division I and Division II schools across the United States, including pairs from each of the 16 teams that made the 2022 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship. More specific details on the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships, including the list of schools for the participating pairs, is available on the event info page.
Legislation passed this May by the NCAA, which allows multiple-day events for college women's beach volleyball players during the fall season, paved the way for the championships. This first-of-its-kind event will take place at John Hunt Park, which is home to a multimillion, state-of-the-art beach volleyball complex with 15 lighted courts in the heart of Huntsville.
The city was awarded the championships for the next three years, from 2022 through 2024, as part of a collaboration between the AVCA and a group of local partners: the City of Huntsville, the Huntsville Sports Commission, Rally Volleyball, Beach Volleyball Consulting, and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
