
Ladyjacks Dominate Battle of the Piney Woods Match Up

Nacogdoches, Texas – The SFA women's basketball team rolled through another WAC opponent topping Sam Houston State 79-46 Saturday afternoon in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Aiyana Johnson was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor notching 17 points to lead all scorers. Zya Nugent followed with 13 points and Stephanie Visscher chipped in 11 points. Visscher also had a team-high four assists and four steals.
The Ladyjacks shot 47 percent from the floor and limited Sam Houston to only 30 percent. SFA forced a staggering 35 turnovers in the game.
SFA opened the game with an 11-3 run allowing Sam Houston to cut into the lead chipping it down to three points, 13-10, with 2:34 to play. However, the final three quarters was all SFA. The 'Jacks never trailed and took a 36-28 lead into the half before turning the rout on in the second half. SFA led by as many as 37 points, 78-41 with 1:19 left in the 4th, before closing out the game with the 79-46 win.
The Ladyjacks hit the road at Lamar on Monday, January 17 at 7 p.m. for their next game.
