The SFA Lumberjacks fell to 8-3 Tuesday night as they lost to Louisiana-Monroe by a score of 82-69 inside William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Gavin Kensmil started hot, scoring 9 of the 'Jacks first 11 points while going 3-3 from the floor and 3-4 from the free-throw line during that span. Both sides shot around 52% from the floor in the first half. The Warhawks closed out the half on a 15-4 run to take a 39-28 advantage into the locker room.
Latrell Jossell sparked the 'Jacks in the second half with his three-ball, knocking down 6 of his 8 attempts from beyond the arc in the second period of play. He and Kensmil led a 9-0 run to cut the deficit down to just 3 with 14:04 remaining in the game.
The 'Jacks continued to battle and keep the game within reach. Jossell converted a four-point play to once again cut it to a one possession game with 6:40 to go but Keller's men just weren't able to pull ahead. The Warhawks eventually pulled away with an 11-0 run late in the second half to secure the Lumberjack defeat.
Jossell finished the game with a career-high 28 points on 9-13 shooting, with 23 of those coming in the second half. Kensmil closed out his impressive performance with 19 points while going 7-8 from the floor. He also grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds.
The 'Jacks will now head to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas for a date with the Jayhawks this Saturday, December 18th. The Big 12 powerhouse will be the second-to-last non-conference game of the season before the team returns to Nacogdoches to host Jackson State the following Tuesday.
