Corin Evans Named to Inaugural Southland Conference Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team

FRISCO, Texas -- The Southland Conference released its inaugural All-Academic Team for beach volleyball on Monday, and the newly minted SFA beach program saw one of its own recognized on the conference team. Senior Corin Evans was one of 10 athletes selected to the league's All-Academic squad after posting a sterling 3.97 GPA as a Kinesiology major.
Evans, a Katy, Texas native, earns the academic accolade in her first season with the beach program after finishing her indoor volleyball career as a Ladyjack in the fall. Evans' 3.97 GPA earned her All-Academic plaudits last fall as part of the indoor volleyball program as well. She posted a 6-6 record at No.1 doubles this spring, helping lead SFA to a 7-5 overall record in the inaugural season of the beach program.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, athletes were required to have at least a 3.0 GPA and have participated in 50 percent or more of team competitions. First-year transfers and true freshmen are ineligible for the All-Academic Teams. Voting for the teams was carried out by the head coach, SID and academic staff member at each nominating institution.
