
Pair of Ladyjacks Earn Southland All-Academic Team Honors

FRISCO, Texas -- A pair of Ladyjack basketball players were recognized by the Southland Conference as part of its All-Academic Teams on Wednesday afternoon. Stephanie Visscher was selected as a First Team selection, while Aiyana Johnson earned a spot on the second team. The teams consisted of ten student-athletes who met competition parameters as well as sporting a 3.00 GPA or above. True freshmen or first-year transfers are not eligible for the award.
Visscher earns an automatic spot on the All-Academic First Team due to her selection as a First Team All-Conference member, as well as her perfect 4.0 GPA, one of just three among the ten honorees. The sophomore guard started every game for the 23-6 Ladyjacks, averaging 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 50.7 shooting from the field and 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Lulea, Sweden native is majoring in communication studies at SFA.
Aiyana Johnson also earns an All-Academic Team plaudit in her first eligible season, taking a spot on the Second Team. The sophomore forward from Lee's Summit, Missouri sports a 3.23 GPA in her general business studies, and put forth a great season for the Ladyjacks. Johnson averaged 13.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on 55.4 percent shooting from the field, the top mark on her team. For her efforts, Johnson was tabbed as an All-Conference Second Team honoree.
