NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Men's basketball created separation atop the league standings with a pair of wins against the leagues upper echelon, women's basketball remains tied for the league lead and track and field recorded numerous personal bests and standout performances last week.
This week, the basketball teams will play a split home and away series with Nicholls on Wednesday, with the men at home and the women on the road, before coming home to face New Orleans in Saturday's "Cram the Coliseum" doubleheader. Track and Field takes the weekend off from competition, while women's bowling competes on the road and women's tennis plays at home on Friday. Softball opens the 2020 season at the ULM Tournament in Monroe, Louisiana.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The men's basketball team lived up to the "separation week" moniker, creating space for themselves atop the league standings with a pair of victories over Abilene Christian and Sam Houston State. SFA will host a pair of Louisiana foes this week at home, squaring off with Nicholls at home on Wednesday at 6:30 and New Orleans on Saturday at 4:30.
Heading into the meat of their SLC schedule this week, the Lumberjacks have put forth some impressive statistical totals this season, as they lead the nation in turnovers forced per game (22.5), rank second in steals per game (10.9), and sixth in field goal percentage at 49.3 percent.

The Ladyjacks made a statement on Wednesday with a win over Abilene Christian at home, but were unable to capitalize on the momentum on
Saturday, dropping a road contest to rival Sam Houston State in a move that leaves them in a three-way tie for first atop the league standings. SFA will face Nicholls in Thibodaux on Wednesday night, before returning home to play New Orleans on Saturday.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
The women's tennis team enters the week at 3-2 overall, and will face off with Louisiana Tech at home on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Junior Annie Walker has been a bright spot thus far for the Ladyjacks, going 4-1 in singles flights and racking up a 4-1 record in doubles bouts with partner Nida Kamal.
The Ladyjacks will also face off with Jackson State on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Schlief Tennis Complex.
