Ivey is first individual from Southland Conference program to take over NACMA presidency
CLEVELAND - In an announcement made by the members of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Wednesday, SFA Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey has been selected as the organization's president for 2019-20.
Ivey, who served as the organization's First Vice President in the 2018-19 academic year, takes over the NACMA presidency from Xavier associate athletics director for external relations Brian Hicks. Wednesday's official announcement comes just one week after the final day of the 2019 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) & Affiliates Convention in Orlando, Fla., where Ivey accepted the presidency.
"I am extremely honored and humbled to serve as NACMA President for the upcoming year," commented Ivey. "As the first affiliate association, NACMA has positioned itself to be the industry leader when it comes to sports marketing. I am excited to be able to work alongside an extremely talented and hardworking board of directors and officers that strive everyday to move the association forward."
Ivey's installation as the president of NACMA marks the first time in the history of the organization that an individual from the Southland Conference holds that post. Additionally, Ivey is the first NACMA president who holds a position at a university in the state of Texas since Chris Plonsky (Texas) in 1999-00.
"Serving as President during the 30th Anniversary of NACMA, only makes it that more special and provides a great opportunity to celebrate all of the amazing accomplishments NACMA has achieved, culminating with our annual convention next June," continued Ivey.
