SFA Athletics Announces Partnership with FoundationsDigital

SFA student-athletes and athletic staff members will receive access to Dave Ramsey Solutions financial planning curriculum
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In an announcement made Thursday, SFA athletics has begun a partnership with FoundationsDigital which will enable all all current and future student-athletes as well as athletic staff members to gain access to the Dave Ramsey Solutions financial planning curriculum.
"We are excited to partner with FoundationsDigital to provide this opportunity for our student-athletes," said SFA director of athletics Ryan Ivey. "Having robust student-athlete programming is a core principle to our daily operations with SFA Athletics. Our responsibility is to provide the opportunities for the individuals in our department to learn and grow. Financial literacy is a critical skill necessary to be successful in life, and to be able to partner with an industry giant and subject matter expert such as FoundationsDigital and Dave Ramsey is a tremendous asset to our student-athletes and department. Our ability to help our student-athletes navigate and improve their financial literacy is paramount to their future success."
Under the agreement with FoundationsDigital, SFA student-athletes and athletics staff members will gain free access to The Dave Ramsey Solutions financial planning curriculum. It is a nine-hour, self-paced program where individuals are able to learn the three basic financial steps: budgeting, debt and savings. Once started, individuals have 12 months to complete the free course.
"In looking at college athletics the last several years, two of the major issues facing student-athletes today are financial and mental health stability," commented SFA head track & field coach Phil Olson. "From a financial standpoint, student loan debt is a $1.4 trillion problem. If we can do our part in helping our student-athletes learn about money and ways to to educate and discipline themselves, as well as set them up securely for the future, that will be a winning solution to both being fiscally responsible and ease their mental stress."
FoundationsDigital is an arm of Ramsey Solutions which was created in 1992 by world-renowned personal finance consultant Dave Ramsey to counsel individuals and families hurting from the results of financial stress.
