
SFA Student-Athletes Receive Degrees in Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - A grand total of 31 current and former SFA student-athletes joined a vast population of SFA alumni that now numbers at over 112,000 individuals Saturday morning when they were conferred degrees in SFA's pair of spring graduation ceremonies at William R. Johnson Coliseum Saturday.
Considered the culmination of an individuals academic career, the commencement ceremonies boasted representatives from 14 of SFA's 17 NCAA Division I athletic teams.
Women's track & field had the highest number of individuals walk across the stage with 10 followed closely by football (nine) and men's track & field (seven). Men's track & field had six individuals take part in the ceremonies while women's basketball had four.
Three current and former Lumberjack football players walked across the stage while two individuals each from men's golf, softball and volleyball received their degrees. One student-athlete each from SFA's baseball, bowling, men's basketball, soccer and women's golf teams also took part in the commencement ceremonies.
In addition to the current and former student-athletes who received their degrees, three student athletic trainers and two women's basketball managers also collected diplomas.
Prior to Saturday's commencement ceremonies, SFA athletics hosted a ceremony in the Baker Pattillo Student Center for the graduating student-athletes and their families. At the ceremony, the graduates were presented with their student-athletes stoles while with their families, coaches and SFA athletic staff members.
