
79 SFA Student-Athletes Named to Fall 2017 Southland Conference Commissioner's List

27 student-athletes post perfect 4.00 GPA's during fall 2017 semester
FRISCO, Texas - Tuesday afternoon, the Southland Conference unveiled its Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 2017 semester an on that list were 79 Stephen F. Austin student-athletes.
The Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in the sports of men's cross country, women's cross country, football, soccer and volleyball who maintain at least a 3.00 grade point average in the semester of their sport.
"We are very honored and pleased to see so many Southland Conference student-athletes continue to succeed academically," league Commissioner Tom Burnett said.
"The Southland and its member institutions are focused on the academic and competitive well-being of these individuals as the work toward graduation and lifelong success."
Each and every one of SFA's fall athletic teams were represented on the Commissioner's List with football leading the way with 28 student-athletes on the list. Women's cross country boasted 18 runners on the list while soccer (16), volleyball (11) and men's cross country (six) rounded out SFA's representatives on the list.
Of the 79 student-athletes on the list, an impressive 27 of them boasted a perfect 4.00 GPA for the fall 2017 semester. Included on that list were football's Holland Malone, Gavin Roland, Marlon Walls, Jacolby Whitaker and Cody Williams, men's cross country's Titus Kiplagat and Jeremy Rich, women's cross country's Clare Crone, Christina Hernandez, Lasean Davis, Christina Hernandez, Courtney High, Taylor Kunkel, Kelsesy Ramirez, Tara Ramsey, Samantha Roberts, Heidi Schultz and Taryn Surratt, volleyball's Haley Coleman, Corin Evans, Morgan Hinds, Ann Hollas and Regan Humphreys and soccer's Carli Arthurs, Lauren Hall, Lauren Prentice and Allyson Smith.
Among the 79 Commissioner's List honorees, three of them - Carli Arthurs (soccer), Ann Hollas (volleyball) and Marlon Walls (football) - were named 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. For Walls, that honor was just one of a bevy that came his way as he was named football's CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year, the Southland Conference Football Student-Athlete of the Year, a finalist for both the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy and the STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award and an FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team selection .
