97 SFA Student-Athletes Named to SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll

FRISCO, Texas – A grand total of 97 Stephen F. Austin student-athletes were named to the Fall 2015 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll it was announced by the league office today.
Football led the way with 38 selections while women's cross country had the next-highest amount of student-athletes on the list with 25. Nineteen soccer players, eight volleyball players and seven men's cross-country student-athletes rounded out SFA's total.
Among those 97 SFA representatives on the SLC's list, 12 were recognized for boasting perfect 4.00 GPA's through the fall semester. Of those 12, five were from the women's cross country team in Macy Davis, Courtney High, Bria McIver, Shelby Pesek and Tierra Watson. An additional five are members of the Ladyjack soccer team in Crystal Calvit, Amanda Fox, Lauren Hall, Carolina Orsi and Jasmine White. Ahmed Muhammed and Marlon Walls represented the football team on among the 12 perfect GPA's.
Headlined by the women's soccer team's fifth-consecutive Southland Conference regular season title and number-one seeding in the SLC Tournament, SFA closed out another fine fall campaign. Amanda Doyle (soccer) took home Southland Conference Player of the Year honors, Brooke Dunnigan (soccer) earned SLC Student-Athlete of the Year accolades and both the men's and women's cross country teams finished second at the Southland Conference Championships.
On the volleyball court, the Ladyjacks secured the third seed in the Southland Conference Tournament and SFA's football squad won four of its last five games. Sixteen of SFA's 24 fall All-Southland Conference honorees earned a spot on the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Southland Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll acknowledges participants in all sports sponsored by the league and its member institutions. The honor roll is released within 30 days at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters, recognizing student-athletes who maintained a minimum 3.00 GPA for the semester in which the student-athlete's championship is held. Student-athletes, nominated by their respective academic advisors, must have been eligible to compete in a conference sport during the academic year in which the nomination occurs.
