SFA vs. South Dakota
Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 1:00 pm CT
VERMILLION, S.D. - The Ladyjacks are excited about starting their second season under Head Coach Mark Kellogg. Last year, the Ladyjacks were 18-12 overall and 12-6 in conference play. Kellogg has seven returners including the SLC First Team All-Conference selection, senior guard Taylor Ross. Other returners are the sharp shooter and leading three-point scorer, senior guard Brentney Branch and the top team rebounder senior center Adrienne Lewis. Redshirt junior Stevi Parker is making her much anticipated return to the court after an injury that cut her season short last year. Kellogg has brought on six newcomers to the Ladyjack roster.
The seventeen time conference champions will face the South Dakota Coyotes on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Ladyjacks and Coyotes have not met up in their program history, so this will be a new challenge for both teams.
Scouting the Coyotes: South Dakota won in their season opener on Friday night against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The win adds a seventh game to their winning streak, the second-longest in the nation currently. Sophomore guard Allison Arens led the Coyotes with a career high 28 points and seven rebounds. South Dakota shot 41 percent for the field on the night.
Season Openers: The Ladyjacks are 27-17 all-time in season opening games. Last year, SFA took a 91-69 win over UT-Tyler. Four Ladyjacks scored in the double digits that night, including Branch, Sophomore Chanell Hayes, and then senior Taylor Schippers.
Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. The game will be livestreamed on ESPN3 and MIDCON.
