NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Athletics Department is proud to release the launch of the Lumberjack Sports Institute (LSI) at SFASportScience.com, as announced by SFA Athletic Director Robert Hill and LSI Director/head women’s soccer coach Wally Crittenden.
The new website will enable SFA Athletics to put all of its coaches under one roof to create a full-service coaching education portal with access to SFA programs and coaches like never before.
“What an exciting time it is within our athletic department,” said Crittenden. “This is a watershed moment that will surely lead the way in higher education across the country. The concept of identifying and aggregating our athletic department assets in a way that benefits our Lumberjack constituents nationwide, while at the same time increasing access to our local SFA community, is very special.
“To my knowledge, we are the first athletic department in the country to provide a platform for all of our sports and administrative areas to disseminate information online and house it within the athletic department. As it grows, it will evolve into something really unique that will only strengthen the brand of our individual sports and our university.”
While offering one single location to access coaching information for all of SFA’s 17 NCAA Division I programs, the Lumberjack Sports Institute will also offer on-campus seminars as a part of the LSI-101 Series. Attendees will be able to watch first-hand how SFA’s great coaches interact with their players, and will learn the values those coaches feel are important in the development of their athletes.
The SFA-LSI will also feature research initiatives in which the athletic department will collaborate with academic departments on campus to create a sports research hub of information.
“Coach Crittenden came to me about creating this concept, and after he explained the ways it could enhance our brand I was totally sold,” said Hill. “We will be sharing our coaching expertise and knowledge to anyone who is trying to improve within their sport.”
To become a member of the SFA-LSI and gain an all-access look into SFA’s successful athletics department and coaching staff, or to learn more about the mission and goals of this initiative, visit SFASportScience.com. All proceeds will be directed to the Varsity Club to benefit SFA’s athletes and athletic programs.
