NACOGDOCHES, Texas – For yet another year the season of giving was in full swing as the efforts of Stephen F. Austin in the Toys For Tots campaign yielded close to 600 toys to be distributed through the Nacogdoches area during the 2015 holiday season.
As has been the case in years past, members of SFA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) served as the driving force behind the institutions latest highly successful Toys for Tots campaign.
By bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the men’s basketball game against Texas Southern on December 5, the women’s basketball tilt versus UT Arlington on December 1 or the football game pitting the Lumberjacks against Houston Baptist on November 14, fans not only received free admission but they made the holiday season brighter for the less fortunate in the Nacogdoches community.
Representatives from SFA’s SAAC chapter were on hand at the aforementioned athletic contests to collect the toys. Donations were also accepted in the lobby of the SFA Fieldhouse and in the SFA Student Center all the way through the drive’s end on Friday, December 18.
