SFA Honors Its Own At Champions Dinner

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin honored its own tonight as the Athletic Department hosted its annual Champions Dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Pattillo Student Center. Over four dozen SFA student-athletes were recognized on the night as each team was able to present their top team awards.
A number of student-athletes won a pair of awards, including Leslie Jackson of volleyball (Michelle Reid and Jene' Carter awards), football's Aaron Thomas (Cally Belcher and Dick Wright Sportsmanship awards) and men's basketball's Desmond Haymon (George Johnson Offensive and R.H. "Bob" Shelton awards).
The other major award winners were given to softball's Elizabeth Arana (Kathy McGough Academic Player of the Year) and Nikola Gajic (Steve McCarty Award). Women's track and field's Brarysheyia Simpson was tabbed as the June Irwin Female Athlete of the Year with Jacob Parker of men's basketball being named the Ralph Todd Male Athlete of the Year.
