
Ladyjacks SLC Champs With 61-41 Win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – With at least a share of the Southland Conference regular season on the line, Stephen F. Austin made sure the opportunity wasn’t wasted. The Ladyjacks raced out to a 12-2 lead and never trailed, routing Central Arkansas 61-41 at William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA finishes the regular season with an overall record of 19-11 and is 13-5 in Southland Conference play. The Ladyjacks share the regular season title with Lamar, who defeated Southeastern Louisiana 92-77. It marks the first SLC title for the Ladyjacks since the 2009-10 season.
Porsha Roberts finished with 20 point, six rebounds and four blocks to lead the Ladyjacks, despite being limited to just six minutes in the first half. Daylyn Harris finished with 10 points while Kali Jerrell and Brentney Branch both added nine points.
Tierany Henderson set a career-high with 16 rebounds, including 13 in the first half, while adding three points, two blocks and three steals. Branch dished out three assists to lead the Ladyjacks on the night.
SFA shot just 35.6 percent for the game, but held Central Arkansas (18-11, 12-6) to just 28.3 percent from the floor, including 22.2 percent in the first half as the Sugar Bears scored just 15 points, a season-low. The Ladyjacks led by as many as 23 in the game, closing out the season on a six-game winning streak and a 12-3 home record.
SFA will be the number two seed heading into the Southland Conference Tournament next week in Katy as Lamar won the tiebreaker between the two. The Ladyjacks’ first game will be Saturday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. against the seventh seed.
