NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Annette Davis became head coach Brandon Schneider's first official signee at Stephen F. Austin Wednesday afternoon. Davis, the sister of current Ladyjack Toni Davis, is transferring from Kansas where she spent the 2009-10 season.
"We are happy Annette decided to move a little closer to home and be a part of the Ladyjack family," said SFA first-year head coach Brandon Schneider. "I think her versatility and athleticism will provide her the opportunity to be an impact player. She had an outstanding high school career and was recruited by the likes of Kansas and Texas A&M."
The 6-1 forward was a highly recruited athlete out of Houston's Bellaire High School. She averaged just over six minutes per game, and shot 37 percent from the field in her lone season with the Jayhawks.
A four-year letterwinner at Bellaire, Davis averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks and four assists per game on her way to first-team all-district and all-region honors as a senior. A two-time all-region selection, Davis garnered McDonald's All-America consideration in 2009.
Following a junior campaign that saw her average 17 points and nine rebounds per game, Davis was invited to several high profile camps including the Adidas Super 60 camp. She also competed in the Adidas Top 10 All-American Camp following her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Davis will have to sit out the 2010-11 season due to NCAA Division I transfer rules, but she will have three years of eligibility remaining at SFA.
