Ladyjacks Strong at ITA Regionals

WACO, Texas - A youthful Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team is proving to opponents that can play like veterans. SFA is closing out the 2010 fall season at the ITA Regional Championships this weekend in Waco, Texas.
Junior Alina Shazhko defeated UTPA's Wanda Bequelin easily in the opening round, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the second round. Her second-round match was a little tougher but Shazhko prevailed posting a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Texas-Arlington's Linda Aquist. Shazhko will face Texas A&M's Nazari Urbina Saturday.
Sophomore Alice Pacaut recorded a tough three-set victory over Sam Houston State's Natalie Petaia, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. Pacaut fought hard in her second round match but fell short, 6-1, 6-2, against Texas Tech's Samantha Adams.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday morning for the second day of action at the ITA Regionals.
