NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Athletics Department is launching a sportsmanship campaign entitled "Good Sports," announced SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill Monday morning. The Good Sports initiative is intended to create a more enjoyable gameday experience by focusing on courtesy, respect and pride at all SFA athletic events.
"It is our goal to compete and win with class," said Hill. "We want our teams to set a good example on the field of competition, and we want our fans to set an example of good sportsmanship as well."
SFA strives to make its gameday experience enjoyable for alumni, students and visitors. Fans are expected to use appropriate language at sports venues, to not taunt players or officials and act responsibly while tailgating.
"Our fans have always done a great job of providing SFA with a home-field advantage," said Hill. "Due to their support, we have some of the top venues in the region. We want to continue to be proactive in reminding our fans of our commitment to winning with class."
The Good Sports campaign kicks off immediately. For further information fans can log onto the SFA athletics web site at www.sfajacks.com.
