
SFA Men Advance to finals of 1,600M Relay

AUSTIN, Texas - The sprinters took to the track on the third day of the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The Stephen F. Austin men's team qualified for the finals of the 4X400-meter relay by finishing sixth overall with a time of 3:12.82.
The Lumberjacks 4X100-meter relay team didn't fair as well Friday afternoon posting a 42.10 to finish 24th in the preliminaries. The Ladyjacks competed in the 4X400-meter relay and finished the preliminary heats 28th overall (3:47.49).
Junior Silent-Joy Egboba-Waye and freshman Nick McCloud looked to advance to the finals in the 100, and 110-meter hurdles respectively. Both athletes posted strong marks, but missed qualifying. Egboba-Waye was 21st overall with a time of 14.06, while McCloud crossed the line with a time of 14.78 (26th). Sophomore Ty Thomas was 27th overall in the men's 100-meter dash. He recorded a time of 10.83 in the event.
Freshman Jon Arthur and junior Kaitlyn Andrews posted strong marks in the men's and women's shot put. Arthur recorded a toss of 51-8.50 to finish eighth overall, while Andrews recorded a 12th -place finish with throw of 44-10.25.
Seven track events, and one field event were still remaining at press time. The SFA men and women will close out the Texas Relays Saturday afternoon in the final day of competition.
