
Perritt Appointed As SFA Faculty Athletics Representative

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - University president Dr. Baker Patillo announced today the appointment of Dr. Dale Perritt, Professor of Agriculture and Department Chair, as Faculty Athletics Representative, replacing Dr. Terry Box who recently retired after a lengthy tenure of service at SFA.
Dr. Perritt will serve as SFA's Faculty Athletics Representative to both the Southland Conference and the NCAA. In this roll he will work to ensure academic integrity and institutional control of intercollegiate athletics as well as enhancing the student-athlete experience. He will also chair the President's Intercollegiate Athletic Council made up of faculty members who advise the president on intercollegiate athletic matters.
"We are very fortunate to have Dr. Perritt as our Faculty Athletics Representative," SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill said. "He is highly respected throughout campus and I believe he will make an excellent Faculty Athletics Representative."
Dr. Perritt received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from East Texas State University before earning his Ed.D. from Mississippi State University. He has been at SFA since 1981.
His teaching responsibilities include agriculture education and courses in agriculture systems management, while also serving as coordinator of the SFA agriculture science teacher program for teaching certification in Texas public schools.
Dr. Perritt's research efforts in agricultural development have focused on leadership styles and teaching and learning theory, and he has also conducted research in the area of energy efficiency and broiler houses.
Dr. Perritt is also a member of the American Association of Agricultural Educators and Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas.
