Brookings, S.D. - The SFA equestrian team picked up a win in its first show of the season on Saturday, edging out South Dakota State in a tiebreaker after finishing tied 8-8 on the afternoon.
The Ladyjacks held a 514-507 advantage in English competition and a 482.5-477.5 edge in the Western discipline. Each team's low individual score in each discipline was dropped in figuring the team point totals.
SFA picked up wins in head-to-head action from Randi Spencer, Alex Berry and Kristen Landes in the English portion of the competition. Kyra Cruse, Jenny Martin and Kayla Krambeck each picked up wins of their own on the Western side.
SFA and South Dakota State each tied each discipline 4-4 before the tiebreaker method was necessary.
The Ladyjacks return to action on Sept. 30 when they travel to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M.
