AUBURN, Ala. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks dropped their second straight show Sunday with an 11-8 loss at Auburn. But for the second time in as many shows, a Ladyjack was named western horsemanship MVP as Jenny Martin won the honor with a score of 73, the highest in the western horsemanship division.
Martin, a sophomore from Pollok, Texas, led the Ladyjacks to a 3-2 win in the western horsemanship division as Kayla Krambeck and Kyra Cruse also won their head-to-head showings. But it wasn't enough as the Tigers went on to win the reining competition to tie the Ladyjacks, 5-5, in Western show. Auburn, however, took the win with a raw score of 644-638.
In hunt seat competition, the Ladyjacks and the Tigers tied at 2-2 in hunt seat equitation, but Auburn came away with a 4-1 win in hunt seat over fences to give the Tigers the 11-8 win.
The loss evens up SFA's record to 4-4 on the year. The Ladyjacks' next competition is Saturday, Feb. 17, at TCU.
