
SFA Athletes Set for NCAA Championships

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Three Stephen F. Austin track and field athletes are set to begin competition at the NCAA Championships, which start Wednesday in Sacramento, Calif. Crystal Chang, Stevina Wyatt and Reggie Lazenby have all qualified for the national meet.
Lazenby will be the first to compete. He qualified for the meet with a school-record effort of 26-02.25 in the long jump. The qualifying round of the long jump is set to begin Wednesday night at 7:15. The finals will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday afternoon, Wyatt will take part in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles. She qualified for the event with her second-place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships. Thursday's first round is scheduled to start at 4:10 p.m. The semifinals are set for 6:10 Friday evening, with the finals scheduled for 12:50 on Saturday.
Chang posted a qualifying score of 5,266 points in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays in April. The first four events of the heptathlon are set to start at 10 a.m. Friday, with the last three slated for a 10:30 p.m. start Saturday.
CBS will have coverage of the national championships on Saturday from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
