Lumberjacks Win Sprint Relay

HOUSTON, Texas - The Lumberjack 4X100-meter relay team, Ashley Monteau and Stevina Wyatt all won their events Saturday to lead the Stephen F. Austin track and field teams at the Rice Bayou Classic. The team of Erik Powell, Johnny Thacker, Stephon Rhea and Alex Harris posted a regional qualifying time of 40.41 to take first place in the sprint relay. On the women's side, Monteau ran a first-place time of 16:54.47 in the 5,000 meters, and Wyatt qualified for regionals by winning the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.07, leading a Ladyjack effort that included five Top 3 finishes.
Katrina Roundtree medaled for SFA in two events. She was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.76, and took third in the 400-meter dash a time of 55.80. Alecia Green also scored in the 200 meters. She finished sixth with a time of 25.50. Green took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 18-07.00. Wyatt posted a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.85. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Katrina Nicholas finished in 11:13.65 to take second place, and Kirsten Wiesman was sixth with a time of 11:55.87. Meghan Denman notched a sixth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-07.00. Teammate Audrey Azu was eighth in the event with the same height. Two Ladyjacks score in the pole vault, as well. Kristina Windham cleared 11-11.75 to take fifth place, and Laura Mikeska was seventh with a height of 11-05.75. Sarah Emerson and Colleen Lonergan both finished eighth in the shot put and discus throw, respectively, and Lonergan posted a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw.
On the men's side, SFA put up 13 scoring performances, five of which won medals. Alex Harris was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.22. Zach Ross took third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74 and finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 54.29. Daniel Williams came across seventh in the 300-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:49.66. In the high jump, Ryder Peacock and Justin Reyes finished fourth and fifth, respectively. The both cleared 6-06.75. Chayden Feist took third place in the pole vault, clearing 15-07.00. Teammate Geoffrey Carey was fifth with the same mark. Reggie Lazenby earned a silver medal in the long jump with his mark of 24-01.50. Tony Bloom turned in a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with his distance of 44-05.25, and James Williams was seventh in the shot put with a mark of 50-02.50.
SFA will return to action at the Texas Relays in Austin, scheduled for April 5-8.
