NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the William R. Johnson Coliseum Sunday Dec. 28th, looking for their first win of the season when they host Arkansas. The game against the Lady Razorbacks is set to begin at 2 p.m. The Ladyjacks will travel to Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday Dec. 31st, for a New Year's Eve showdown against the Golden Hurricane. The game against Tulsa is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., in the Donald W. Reynolds Arena.
SFA vs. the Lady Razorbacks: The Ladyjacks trail the all-time series against Arkansas, 3-5 (.375). The Ladyjacks won three of the first four meetings against the Lady Razorbacks but have lost the past three games, including a 78-54 decision last season in Fayetteville.
SFA vs. the Golden Hurricane: The Ladyjacks are 1-0 all-time against Tulsa. The lone meeting between the two schools came during the 1982-83 season when SFA defeated the Golden Hurricane, 108-64.
Radio Broadcast: The Ladyjacks game against Arkansas on Sunday will be broadcast on KYKS 105.1, instead of Q107, due to a time conflict with the Dallas Cowboys. The Ladyjack broadcasts will return to Q107 when the Ladyjacks face Tulsa on Wednesday Dec. 31st.
Tradition of Winning: The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-tme top 10 with 729 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .745 winning percentage (729-249).
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the all-time winningest teams at home, with an all-time record of 318--76 (.807). The Ladyjacks have now won 52 of their last 59 games in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks were 10-2 at home last season.
Alex the Great: Junior Alex Bowman set a career-high when she led all scorers with her 23 points against Arkansas State. Bowman was 8-of-15 (.533) from the floor, including a 3-for-5 (.600) performance from behind the three-point arc. She was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Bowman actually set her career-high in the first-half with 16 points heading into the intermission. She also pulled down two rebounds and recorded two steals in the game.
More Career-Highs: Freshman Jennifer Simpson recorded a career-high seven points in 14 minutes of action at Arkansas State. Simpson finished the game a perfect 2-of-2 from the field, including her only three-point attempt of the game. She was also 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Being Offensive: The Ladyjacks shot a season-high 47 percent from the field, going 22-for-47 against Arkansas State. It marks the second time this season that SFA has shot better than 40 percent from the field and it is the best day for a Ladyjacks squad since they shot 28-of-53 (.528) at McNeese State last season.
Offensive Output: The Ladyjacks tied a season-high scoring 73 points against Arkansas State.
Season Debut: Sophomore Kendria Smith made her 2003-04 debut against Arkansas State Sunday. She came off the bench to score six points on 3-of-4 (.750) shooting. She also pulled down three rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
Sharp-Shooter: Sophomore Kirby Killingsworth drained a three-pointer against Arkansas State. With the three-pointer, Killingsworth now has 61 for her career. The 61 three-pointers places her seventh all-time in school history. After a slow start, Killingsworth is now 10th in the SLC averaging 1.43 three-pointers per game.
