
Ten Ladyjacks Tabbed All-Southland Conference

PLANO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team had 10 players named to the 2003 All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. SFA head coach Nicole Nelson was selected as the conference coach of the year.
Sophomore defender Kim Gray was the Ladyjacks lone first-team selection. Gray led a defensive unit that recorded seven shutouts on the season and set a school record with 13 victories. Gray was also a two-time conference defensive player of the week.
Sohomores Kendra Cannon and Natascia Michalezki and freshman Alicia Reese earned second-team honors. Cannon led the Ladyjacks in points (30), goals (13) and was tied for second on the team with four assists. Michalezki recorded five of the Ladyjacks shutouts this season and won 11 games. She was a four-time SLC Goalkeeper of the Week and set the second-best single-season mark in school history with her 122 saves. Reese made an immediate impact in her first season with the team, finishing second on the squad with 16 points (six goals and four assists).
Six Ladyjacks earned All-Southland Conference honorable mention honors. Sarah Johnson, Christie Mestayer, Sophia Pantazis, Sara Hernandez, Jaime Ronca and Andrea Ramirez all earned honorable mention honors.
Nelson led the Ladyjacks to a six-game turnaround in only her second season in Nacogdoches. SFA set a school record with their 13 regular-season wins in 2003. The Ladyjacks enter the Southland Conference Championships as the league's No. 2 seed.
