
Ladyjacks Host Final Exhibition

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team plays host to the Perik Jumpers in an exhibition game Friday night. The game is slated for a 7 p.m., tip-off in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The exhibition game will be the Ladyjacks' final tune-up before they open the 2003-04 regular season Friday Nov. 21st, against No. 12 (ESPN/USA Today Poll) Louisiana Tech.
Perfect Record: SFA head coach Lee Ann Riley enters Friday night's game with a perfect 4-0 record in exhibition contests at SFA.
Offensive Explosions: The Ladyjacks rallied for a 99-91 victory in their first exhibition game against the NWBL All-Stars. SFA was led by sophomore LaToya Mills who scored 21 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Mills was one of four Ladyjacks to score in double-figures as sophomore Kirby Killingsworth added 18 points in only 14 minutes action. Junior college transfer Alex Bowman added 15 points while classmate Stacey Szymanski netted 14 points. The Ladyjacks also recorded 60 rebounds, 36 of those came off the offensive glass.
A Look at the Polls: The Ladyjacks have been picked to finish third in the Southland Conference in a poll of the league head coaches and sports information directors. SFA was picked to finish behind 2002-03 league-tournament champion Texas State and regular-season champion Texas-San Antonio.
Preseason All-Southland Conference: Sophomores Kirby Killingsworth and LaToya Mills were named to the 2003-04 Preseason All-Southland Conference second team. Mills led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring as a freshman and was named the 2003 SLC Freshman of the Year. Killingsworth led the Ladyjacks in scoring during her rookie season and recorded the third-best season in Ladyjack history with 50 three-pointers.
