
Ladyjacks Hit the Road for Two in Louisiana

After a six-game homestand, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team (7-2-1) will be looking to defend its unbeaten streak on the road in Louisiana. The Ladyjacks open up the trip Friday against Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La. The game against the Lady Colonels is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. SFA will be in Hammond, La., Sunday to face Southeastern Louisiana. The game against the Lady Lions will begin at 4 p.m. The Ladyjacks are now undefeated in their last eight games and are a perfect 3-0-0 in Southland Conference action.
POW: For a second consecutive week sophomore Natascia Michalezki was named Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. It is the fourth time this year she has received the award. The Ladyjacks have received a conference player of the week honor six times this season.
A Brick Wall: Sophomore Natascia Michalezki has lived up to all the preseason hype to this point in the season. She is currently second in the conference 8.30 saves per game. Earlier this season, Michalezki set a school record with 24 saves against Texas-El Paso. She is also among the league's top five with a 1.90 goals against average. She has surrendered only three goals in the teams last four games.
Turnaround: After being outscored 10-0 in the Ladyjacks' first two games, SFA has completely turned it around. The Ladyjacks are undefeated in their last eight games, outscoring their opponents, 25-9.
Ahead of the Pace: The 2002 Ladyjack squad finished the season scoring 67 points (27 goals and 13 assists). Through 10 games in 2003, the Ladyjacks have scored 65 points (25 goals and 15 assists). Sophomore Kendra Cannon is leading the team in points (17), goals (7) and assists (three).
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks return home to face Louisiana-Monroe Friday Oct. 10th. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., from the SFA Intramural Complex.
