
Texas State Beats Ladyjacks

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team lost to Texas State, 4-1, Friday evening in San Marcos. The Ladyjacks are now 11-4-2 on the season and 7-2-1 in Southland Conference play.
The 'Jacks were without goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki following an injury in the 26th minute of the game. Michalezki was taken from the field for treatment and did not return. Her replacement, Heather Matchette was tagged for four goals on the night, the first coming moments after entering the game.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute of the game when TSU's Jaynee Sherman scored on a pass from Amy Benton. The Ladyjacks answered the goal six minutes later when junior Christie Mestayer netted her fifth goal of the season. The scored stood tied, 1-1, heading into the intermission.
TSU took the lead again in the 64th minute of the game when Sherman scored her second of four goals on the night. Sherman ended the night by scoring a goal in the 88th and 89th minute to seal the victory for Texas State.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Huntsville, Texas, to take on Sam Houston State. The game will begin at 1 p.m.
