
Ladyjack Tennis Competes at Home

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team continued the 2002 fall season Saturday, hosting the Texas Tennis Championships at the SFA Tennis Courts. Two Ladyjack newcomers were the surprise of the day, with one advancing to the finals of her flight.
Megan Langston knocked off Lamar's Kendall Gibbs, 6-2, 6-2, in the morning rounds to advance to the second round of flight four singles. Langston came right back and defeated Tyler Junior College's Lauren Whatley, 6-2, 6-1. Langston will face McNeese State's Marina Gando, Sunday at 9 a.m., for the flight four championship.
Another Ladyjack freshman, Jennifer Cline, defeated Lamar's Melanie Medina, 6-2, 6-0, to advance to the semifinals in flight seven singles. Cline was beaten in the semifinals by TJC's Fatima Hassan, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Cline will face the Cowgirls Allison Lui Sunday at 8 a.m., in the third-place match.
Other Ladyjacks recording singles victories on Saturday were Emily Voss, Sandra Wolfe, Melissa Bass and Ashley Johnson.
The final round of the Texas Tennis Championships will get underway Sunday at 8 a.m. All matches will be played at the SFA Tennis Courts.
