NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team lost to Southwest Texas, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the SFA Tennis Courts. The Ladyjacks are now 6-6 (.500) overall and 3-4 (.429) in the Southland Conference.
The Bobcats jumped to an early 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches. Southwest Texas extended its lead to 2-0 before freshman Robin Houston (Shreveport, La.) beat the Bobcats' Regan Schneider, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5 singles. Freshman Emily Voss battled Southwest Texas' Mackenzie Mekus to three sets before finally bowing out, 5-7, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 4 singles. SWT went on to win five of the six singles matches for the victory.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Sunday as they take on Texas-San Antonio. The match is slated to begin at 10 a.m., at the SFA Tennis Courts.
