Ladyjack Basketball Defeats Texas-San Antonio

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University held on to defeat the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners 58-49 in Nacogdoches. The Royce Chadwick's Ladyjacks are 20-3 overall and 15-0 in Southland Conference play.
The Ladyjacks were led by sophomore guard Nathesia Wright (Arlington, TX) with 15 points. Wright shot .385 (5-13) from the field and .667 (4-6) from the free-throw line. She also had a three-pointer for the night. Patricia Brown (Houston, TX), a senior forward, also scored in double figures with 10 points. Under the basket, senior center Tami Rater accumulated a team high six rebounds (all defensive) for the night. Junior guard Lashinda Winters led her team in assists with five.
As a team the Ladyjacks shot .700 (21-30) from the free-throw line and .391 (18-46) from the field. They also had five offensive and 27 defensive rebounds.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Saturday, February 10, at 2:00 PM in William R. Johnson Coliseum as they face the Southwest Texas Bobcats. During this game former Ladyjack Rosie Walker will be honored as her jersey will be retired.
