Ladyjack Basketball Clinches SLC Regular Season Title

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjack basketball team clinched another Southland Conference regular season title as they defeated the Texas-Arlington Lady Mavericks 62-52. Overall the Ladyjacks are 23-4 and undefeated 18-0 in Southland Conference play. The Ladyjacks are closer to being the first team in SLC history to go 20-0 for the season. Since 1983, on seven different occasions, a team has gone undefeated in SLC play. Stephen F. Austin has gone undefeated four of those seven times. The Ladyjacks have now won 12 regular season titles.
In the game against Texas-Arlington, SFA had three ladies go into double figures. These ladies included junior, guard Latisha Prater (Cotton Prt, LA.) with 14, senior, forward Tami Rater (Mesquite, TX.) with 12, and sophomore, guard Nathesia Wright (Arlington, TX.) with 10 points. As a team the Ladyjacks shot .418 (28-67) from the field and .600 (6-10) from the free-throw line. Under the basket the Ladyjacks accumulated 40 total rebounds.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Thursday, March 1, in Natchitoches, Louisiana as they face the Northwestern State Lady Demons. The game will begin at 7:30 PM.
