Ladyjack Basketball Defeats McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana -- The Stephen F. Austin State Unviersity Ladyjack basketball team defeated the McNeese State Cowgirls 93-47 (46 point margin of victory) Saturday, January 20 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Ladyjacks improved their overall record to 14-3 and remained undefeated in Southland Conference play at 9-0.
The Ladyjacks had five team members score in double digits including junior Chaquita Dilworth with 19, junior Jessica Guild with 15, sophomore Nathesia Wright with 15, sophomore Amy Collins with 12 and senior Tami Rater with 10 points. The Ladyjacks scored 34 points from the free-throw line alone. The team had a season high 50 free-throws attempted during the game.
Dilworth shot .636 from the field (7-11) and .833 (5-6) from the free-throw line. Her 19 points for the night was a career and season high for the Temple, Texas native. Under the basket she had one offensive rebound and seven defensive rebounds. To continue her success for the night, Dilworth accumulated two assists and blocks in 21 minutes of play. Dilworth celebrated her birthday during this trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana as she turned 22 on January 19.
Junior Jessica Guild had an impressive night at the free-throw line. Guild shot .917 (11-12). She also shot .667 (2-3) from the field. She scored a total of 15 points for the Ladyjacks. This was a season and career high for Guild.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Monday, January 22 at 6:00 PM in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Ladyjacks play the Texas-Arlington Lady Mavericks in William R. Johnson Coliseum on the Stephen F. Austin campus.
