Fall Sports Ready For Start of 2000 Season

FALL SPORTS READY TO REPORT
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Freshmen and newcomers for the Lumberjack football team will report for fall camp on August 6, with veterans reporting for the start of fall camp on August 9. The freshmen and newcomers will be the first group of student-athletes to report to campus for the start of the 2000 fall season.
The team will conduct their first full squad workout of the 2000 fall camp on the morning of Thursday, August 10 in preparation for the season opener with Central Oklahoma, August 31. The `Jacks will open the season with two straight home games before taking their first road trip of the year when they travel to Ruston, Louisiana to take on Louisiana Tech.
The Ladyjack volleyball team is the next group of student-athletes to report for fall practice when they arrive on the afternoon of August 9. They will begin workouts the following day in Shelton Gym. The Ladyjacks open the season September 1 at the St. Louis tournament.
The Lumberjack and Ladyjack cross country teams report to campus on August 15 to begin preparations for the first meet of the year September 2. The team will compete in the Rice Relays in Houston.
Members of the Ladyjack soccer team will report the following day, the 16th, with their first practice scheduled for the morning of August 17. The Ladyjacks will scrimmage Dallas Baptist on August 26, and Richland College on August 30 before the team's regular season opener with Nicholls State, September 6 in Homer Bryce Stadium.
All of the teams will hold two-a-day practices until the first day of classes, August 23.
