1999-2000 Ladyjack Awards Banquet

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin athletic department is currently wrapping-up another successful year in Ladyjack athletics. The Ladyjack Awards Banquet was held Tuesday, April 25, in the U.C. Grand Ballroom. Student-Athletes were honored for their accomplishments both on and off the sporting venues. Senior Women's Administrator, Debbie Humphreys, served as master of ceremonies for the evening.
Highlights of the evening included the induction of four women to the 2000 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor. The 2000 Hall of Fame Inductees included Trenia Tillis (Basketball), Sandra Green Beasley (Softball) and Kathy Ellen Walker Noffsinger (Softball). The 2000 Hall of Honor Inductees included Lori Davis Tabor (Basketball).
"The Kathy McGough Academic Athlete of the Year" award went to Ladyjack soccer player Lotta Westerberg. Westerberg, a political science major from Sodertalje, Sweden, has a 3.87 overall GPA. She has played in 31 games for the Ladyjack soccer program and been a member of the 1998 Southland Conference Championship team in 1998. Westerberg has been named to both the Dean's List and the Commissioner's List for Academic Excellence.
The "June Irwin Athlete of the Year" award was presented to volleyball player Shana Neimann, a middle blocker from Pflugerville. Neimann is a four-year letter winner. She was a member of the 1996 Southland Conference Championship team, three Southland Conference runner-up teams and two Southland Conference Tournament Title teams. Neimann has also made two NCAA tournament appearances. She has been named the 1996 Co-Freshman of the Year, 1996 honorable mention team member, 1998-99 SLC All-Tournament team, 1998 All-Southland Conference Second Team, 1999 All-SLC First Team and Southland Conference Player of the Week. Neimann has also been named to the Commissioner's List for Academic Excellence and a SLC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
