Four Ladyjacks Named to Southland Preseason All-Conference Teams

SFA places a pair on both the First and Second Team
Southland Preseason All-Conference Team Release
FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Soccer Preseason All-Conference Teams for the 2019 season were announced in a release from the conference office on Wednesday, and features four representatives from Texas' oldest town. Senior Carli Arthurs and junior Sophia Fondren are each part of the 13-member First Team, while senior Katie Jennings and junior Katelyn Termini both earned a spot on the Second Team.
For Fondren, the selection marks the second of her career, having been tabbed as a Preseason Second Team honoree a year ago. Arthurs is now a three-time Preseason All-Conference selection but is also making her premier appearance on the First Team. Jennings and Termini are both first-time honorees. Each of the four started 17 or more games for the Ladyjacks last season
Both the First and Second Teams feature heavily from the six teams picked to finish in the top half of the Southland League standings, per yesterday's Preseason Poll release. Abilene Christian leads the league with eight selections, followed by McNeese with six, Central Arkansas with five, SFA with four, Lamar with a pair and HBU with a lone selection.
Returning players from the 2018 All-Conference First and Second teams are automatically named to the 2019 Preseason All-Conference teams at their same positions. Second team players are elevated to first team if the first team slot is vacated by a non-returning player at their same position. Vacant positions are nominated and voted upon by the conference's head coaches. Voting for one's own player is not permitted. The full Southland Preseason All-Conference Teams are listed below.
