Doyle becomes seventh former SFA player to sign professional contract
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Just one season removed from completing a storied Ladyjacks soccer career, Amanda Doyle became the seventh former SFA player to sign a professional contract in the past five seasons after finishing her career in Nacogdoches. The Carrollton, Texas native inked a contract with Alamein F.C, based out of Ashburton, Victoria in Australia.
Doyle's signing is just the latest in a string of signings by former Ladyjacks to professional contacts. She is preceded by Megan Dunnigan (Iceland), Brooke Dunnigan (Kazakhstan), Zuri Prince (Czech Republic), Chelsea Raymond (Iceland), Morgan Glick (Iceland), and Rachel Owens (Iceland).
"What a great opportunity for Amanda to compete in a great league and beautiful country in Australia and I am thrilled she has the chance to continue playing as a professional", said SFA head coach Wally Crittenden. "Amanda had a great career here at SFA and no doubt she will serve as an inspiration and model for our younger players who are driven to become the best players they can be and play after college. Our network of Ladyjacks in the professional leagues continues to grow and it is a testament to the competitive character and to the environment Stephen F. Austin helps provide our most driven athletes. I am really excited for Amanda and know she will be a great professional and teammate who will, no doubt, inspire the next group of Ladyjacks to make that step into the professional ranks."
The 2015 Southland Conference Player of the Year, Doyle was also twice named a Southland Conference First Team Selection, and earned NSCAA All-Region Second Team honors during her standout 2015 season. Doyle was also strongly committed to hard work in the classroom, being named to Southland Academic All-Conference Teams all three seasons in which players are eligible to do so.
As an attacking center midfielder, Doyle had a career-high seven goals in both her junior and senior seasons, and finished with 20 tallies overall during her four years at SFA. She also dished out nine assists, and finished with 49 career points as a Ladyjack. Doyle started 61 of the 77 games she appeared in, and helped guide the Ladyjacks to three straight regular season championships.
