NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team welcomes TCU to SFA Soccer Field this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for the team's second exhibition match of the 2015 spring schedule.
The Ladyjacks are off to a good start to 2015, picking up a 2-1 victory over a quality Navarro College side on March 7. University of Arkansas transfer Madison Hall and Ashton Norman each notched goals for SFA in the first competitive game of the spring.
The Ladyjacks will look to continue to build off their momentum gained with the victory when they collide with TCU on Saturday. The Horned Frogs return most of their starters from a team that finished 8-8-3 overall in 2014, including a 1-4-3 mark in Big 12 action.
"TCU is a team that's going to be experienced and athletic and I think it's going to be a fantastic test for us," said head coach Wally Crittenden. "It'll give us a great indicator as to where we are now compared to where we want to be in the fall. We don't need to be fall ready - that's not the expectation. The expectation is that we execute certain aspects that we've spent fine-tuning since the Navarro game at a higher level."
Despite losing a few key pieces from at squad that won the Southland Conference regular season championship last fall, the Ladyjacks bring a wealth of experience and talent back to the table in 2015. Led by soon-to-be seniors Rachel Owens, Chantal Curry, Dallas Brown and Norman, SFA has already made great strides this spring.
"There's potential for us to have one of the most complete performances so far which is really exciting," Crittenden said. "The roster on our side is very tight and competition is very high right now. People are playing very well and we're going to be tested against a good team on Saturday. We're all looking forward to the challenge."
Following Saturday's contest, the Ladyjacks will travel to play three road exhibitions in a row before concluding the spring slate with the annual alumni game on Saturday, April 25 at SFA Soccer Field.
