NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team, after their brief return to Nacogdoches for their home opener on Monday, embarks on their second away tournament, heading to Brookings, South Dakota State, for matches against South Dakota State, Valparaiso and UMKC, as part of the Jackrabbits Invitational.
The Ladyjacks will face host SDSU in a noon match on Friday, before following with a 5 p.m. tilt with Valpo inside Frost Arena. SFA will then follow with another noon match on Saturday, facing UMKC in its final match of the tournament.

• SFA vs. South Dakota State - SFA and the Jackrabbits have met two times dating back to 2005, but this will be the first meeting on a home court for either team with the two previous coming on a neutral site. The Ladyjacks defeated SDSU 3-2 in 2005 at the Cyclone Classic (Iowa State Tournament) in Aimes, Iowa, before picking up a 3-0 conquest in 2011 at the Spring Hill Suites Invitational (Georgia Southern Tournament) in Statesboro, Georgia.
• Scouting SDSU - The Jackrabbits are 3-1 entering the weekend of their home tournament. SDSU, after falling 3-0 to UMBC in its season opener, has won its last three matches over Weber State, UMES and Fairleigh Dickinson, all 3-0, to ride a nine-set winning streak into Friday. The Jackrabbit attack is led by redshirt freshman Ashley Beaner, who has 40 kills on a .372 attack percentage.
• SFA vs. Valparaiso - SFA and the Crusader will meet for the first time on the hardwood when the two teams take the floor on Friday afternoon.
• Scouting Valpo - The Crusaders are 3-1 entering the weekend, with 3-1 wins over Wofford and North Carolina Central, and most recently a 3-2 triumph of IUPUI. Sophomore Emily Campbell leads Valpo, racking up 55 kills on a .268 attack percentage through the team's first four matches.
• SFA vs. UMKC - SFA and the Kangaroos have met two times, with the Ladyjacks prevailing 3-0 in both 1992 and 1993.
• Scouting UMKC - The Kangaroos are 2-1 entering the weekend. After falling 3-2 in its season opener, UMKC defeated Central Michigan 3-0, before most recently downing Omaha 3-2. Through three matches, redshirt junior Sydney Crimmins leads the `Roos with 35 kills.
• Ivy's 1,000 - Senior outside hitter Jill Ivy became the most recent Ladyjack to go over 1,000 kills, breaking into the four-digit mark against Tennessee State (Aug. 30) in the Arkansas Invitational. Ivy, who entered her final SFA campaign with 981 kills, has recorded 33 through four matches to bring her career total to 1,014.
• Tabbed Fifth In SLC - SFA was picked to finish fifth in the Southland Conference in polls conducted by the league's coaches and sports information directors, the conference office announced Thursday, Aug. 21. The Ladyjacks earned 103 votes in the SID poll and 99 points in the coaches poll.
• Preseason All-SLC - The Ladyjacks placed juniors Jill Ivy and OJ Olson on the preseason all-conference first team, the Southland Conference office announced Wednesday, Aug. 20. Both Ivy and Olson were second-team all-conference selections last season for SFA
