NACOGDOCHES, Texas – It will be another busy week for Stephen F. Austin track and field as the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks continue to progress toward the Southland Conference Championship in three weeks.
The majority of the team is headed to the UCA Open hosted by Central Arkansas with action in distance events beginning on Friday evening. The meet will provide SFA’s athletes the opportunity to compete at the facility hosting the conference championship meet this year.
A full day of action is set for Saturday at the UCA Open with field events slated for a 9 a.m. start. Running events will begin just after noon.
Three of SFA’s top distance runners are headed to the premier meet for distance events this weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays. Each year the best of the best head to Walnut, Calif., for the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.
Quinlin McGregor will run Friday morning in an open men’s 1,500 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays. Nick Guerra will run late Thursday night for SFA in the men’s 10,000 meters. Laurie Byrd also will run for the women in the 3,000 meter steeple chase late Thursday night. The women’s steeplechase routinely pits the best in the nation against each other in that event at Mt. SAC Relays.
