Montuenga Named Southland Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore Paola Montuenga has been named the Southland Conference Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second consecutive week that a Ladyjack has received the award.
Montuenga helped guide the Ladyjacks to their third consecutive win to start the 2011 season with dominating performances in singles and doubles play against Prairie View A&M. She recorded a victory in straight sets at No. 3 singles to give SFA an insurmountable lead. Montuenga defeated Raven Lewis, 6-1, 6-0. She also teamed up with junior Alina Shazhko to knock off Lerato Ndlovu and Brittany Harrell, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they will face Louisiana Tech in their home opener. The match against the Lady Techsters is slated to begin at 10 a.m. from the Schlief Tennis Complex.
